What am I trying to achieve?

Why isteamedu?

G'day I'm Byron Fisher, 1 of 2 founders. Before we start, this is an unfiltered, non-edited blog post. I am bad at making concise statements, so this blog post could get long.

Over the past few months, I have been asked why? What are you trying to achieve? Followed by statements like your goals are too forward-thinking. Your MVP is no longer an MVP.

So let's dig into it; why?

"Why not?" That is always my first response. When I was in school and university, I always struggled with the conventional way of learning. The good old, "Here is a book, and here is some context to learn with and now go and apply that learning". However, my struggle was never how to apply. It was the context of learning with a book or trying to concentrate and stay engaged within a lecture hall and not get bored.

What am I trying to achieve?

I want to allow kids to learn, be engaged and find fun in learning. On the flip side, I want to be parent-friendly, including them within the education but not requiring it (I know the demands of being a parent can be full on at times). Lastly, I want to provide a product and service that everyone could use. Education should be accessible to all. So, after months of research, deliberating and annoying the wife, I decided it was time to build a team.

Building a team. Building the MVP.

It has been 11 months of building, re-building and tweaking. The objective is to build a quality product while staying in touch with providing a "bang for your buck" product. ISE’s other co-founder is Ben Sutherland, my sports myotherapist at the time, who wanted to learn how to automate his administration.

Ben has come a long way in a short time from being a script kiddie in google spreadsheets to now, without a doubt, a full-stack engineer.

Team Mathcraft

Maths + Minecraft = Mathcraft. Team Mathcraft is an international dream team that expanded from 3 to 22 over the last 9 months. The team includes Minecraft builders, exterior and interior designers, set designers, 3D artists, 3D renders, story writers, landscapers and YouTubers.

Team Elandra

Elandra is primarily a female name of Aboriginal origin that means "Home By The Sea". The Elandra team are all Australian, and we will always remain in Australia. Elandra is our Learning eXperience Platform (LXP) to provide kids from all across the globe a fun, interactive, and limitless access to awesome Victorian Curriculum Australian homework.

Through Elandra, we also allow teachers to build fun, creative activities and lessons that ease the burden of their teaching load. While enhancing the potential classroom and homework learning offered. Elandra will be free forever.

ISE Founders

International STEAM Education, or ISE, was born from the minds of two ardent technologists keen on reshaping education for young souls globally. Our second co-founder, originally my Myotherapist, ventured from running a sports nutritionist business to embracing the intricate world of coding. He had the aspiration to automate his nutritionist weekly check-ins and has now transformed into an extraordinary engineer, epitomising the power of passion and dedication.

Our shared history with games, especially our younger days immersed in World of Warcraft, gave us a mutual understanding and vision. This gaming past heavily influenced the direction of "World of Mathcraft", seamlessly intertwining with Elandra and our overarching STEAM programs.

MVP: Elandra

Elandra drives all our products and services, a Learning Management System that learns and adapts to a child's learning (LXP). The underlying code and the infrastructure we use to deploy our platform globally has been our breadwinner towards our mission, vision and values.

MVP: Mathcraft

Mathcraft is sandbox add-on with our Elandra platform, enabling kids to apply their learning inside Minecraft. Mathcraft is a sandbox game that allows kids to use what they have just learnt with fun interactive activities. Kids can unlock explorations to learn history, space and culture just by doing their homework.

MVP: World of Mathcraft

World of Mathcraft enables parents, schools and organisations to support their kids in learning at home or in the classroom. This edition extends Mathcraft into an open-world adventure with other kids in quest lines, dungeons and bosses. Think World of Warcraft, but an educational version for kids.
